Quick Beginner's Guide: Drilling Holes in Rocks with a Dremel!
Drilling holes in rock with a Dremel or a rotary tool is simple but it can take some patience.
When Drilling rocks with a Dremel we want to use Diamond drill bits. I find that round or cylinder shaped drill bits works the best because of the larger grinding surface.
You can also use the Dremel Diamond Drill bits 663DR/661DR that are specifically designed for drilling through hard materials.

Dremel A550 Shield/Guard: Is it worth getting

In this video test out the Dremel A550 Shield/Guard. The Shield helps to contain and redirect shard of material that goes flying when you are using the Dremel. Most of the time i work without this attachment, but it is good to have around when i need it. Tools Used I...
Reversing Spinning Direction Of A Dremel Cordless Rotary Tool (Lite 7760, 8220 and 8240)

    Let me chime in here: the 8220 and 8240 is going to be as high as you want to go currently. The 50 and 60 models have insufficient bearings that cannot handle 30,000 rpm- they heat up and fail- becoming so hot that it mishapes the interior support braces resulting in the entire motor shaft becoming loose leaving you without a useable tool. Not sure why there isn’t more context about this issue-I sent mine back 4 times before I decided to fix this issue myself. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful as the fix is replacing the bearings with quality bearings. Bringing me to the next issue. Technically, this is not a Dremel at all. Dremel has been sold twice with the most recent in the 90’s to ‘Bosch’. Understand that a new tool is a ‘Bosch’ product with the name ‘Dremel’ on the side. No longer made in Germany or Switzerland- this tool is made in and with components of ‘Mexico’. Mexico. Which could be the worst quality production country in the world. Save money and buy a better product investing in a Milwaukee. If your box says Dremel on it, you’ve Compromised quality for a name. Period.

    I have been engraving cut wine bottles for a few years now. I have gone through 3 dremel 3000. They keep breaking down. Is the Stylo any better? My last dremel lasted about 8 hrs worth of glass engraving. I thought Dremel was the best brand, but now I wonder. Do you have any thoughts on what I should by next or what I might be doing wrong?

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760 16 дней назад

      Hmm. That sucks. It should not break down that quick. I've used the 4000 for 3 years without any problems with the tool. The Stylo is good for very specific light tasks, but it lacks some power. If you are going for a Dremel I'd recommend getting the 4000 with the flex shaft, it is a better allround tool. But there is nothing wrong with going for the cheaper brands like "Wen", they seem to work fine. A comparable wen rotary tool is like half the price of the 3000. But the flex shafts that comes with the cheap ones are usually pretty bad, so I would use the original Dremel flex shaft with them.

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760 19 дней назад

      On the 8240 I don't think you can change the brushes that easily. They are built into the motor housing so I think getting a new motor is needed if they wear out. But I don't know the durability of the cordless brushes compared to the corded ones. The 8250 is brushless though. So it should be more durable.

    • @woodenheart3494
      @woodenheart3494 19 дней назад

      @@rotarycrafts8760 but it's unthinkable! if the brushes last about 50 hours, why would you ever buy a dremel, costing 150 euros, which you then throw away?? this is impossible, they can't be that stupid, maybe these brushes are made to last much longer?

    • @rotarycrafts8760
      @rotarycrafts8760 18 дней назад

      @@woodenheart3494 I've searched around a bit for this now, and to me it seems that the tools will last longer than 50 hours. But if it used harshly, the lifetime of the brushes will decrease of course. I have not any problems with mine yet but i have not ran it for more than 50 hours. But, it is not designed so that you can change brushes easily yourself. In the spare parts manual the entire motor assembly with the shaft is one part, and it goes for around 30$. Here something stated in the manual about the motor: "The motor in your tool has been engineered for many hours of dependable service. To maintain peak efficiency of the motor, we recommend it be examined every six months. Only a genuine Dremel replacement motor specially designed for your tool should be used." You might be better of sticking to the cordless models if you need to use it a little bit harshly and be able to change brushes yourself. The brushless models 8250/60 promises a longer lifetime, but they are still relatively new tools for me so i cannot say anything from experience.

    • @woodenheart3494

      @@rotarycrafts8760 hi, this dremel has yet to arrive, maybe I'm worrying too soon, but I want to find out first. Can I ask you the name or code of the piece you are talking about? because I can't find it in the online manual. from what I think, the brushes are made to last much longer in this dremel, if I had to replace them I can't therefore use the traditional ones, at least I think.. thank you very much for the information you found.

    Just out of curiosity, cause I've never tried it, how well do you think using the Dremel with this attachment like a router for aluminum?

      You can.... But I would expect too much of it in terms of accuracy. The bits will scew a little bit if too much pressure is put upon them. Maybe if you go really shallow it can work fine.
